Join us as we welcome the University of Galway Translator in Residence, Giovanna Granato, in conversation with Anne O’Connor.
Arts in Action are delighted to partner with Cúirt International Festival of Literature and the School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, University of Galway to present “On Translation,” with Giovanna Granato, the Translator in Residence of the University of Galway 2026.
Granato started to work as a freelance literary translator in 1995 and since then she has translated some of the most important English speaking modern authors into Italian, including Edna O’Brien, Colm Tóibín, Flannery O’Connor, Norman Mailer, Virginia Woolf, Graham Greene, Katherine Anne Porter, Martin Amis, Tim Parks, Alan Hollinghurst, David Foster Wallace, Dave Eggers, Jennifer Egan, Richard Powers, among many others. During her time in Galway she will be translating Colm Tóibín’s Nora Webster. She teaches Literary Translation at the Holden School in Turin.
