“Self-translation and the creative process

Beatriz Langowiski – writer and freelance translator

Aspiring writer and freelance translator Beatriz Langowiski will explore the role self-translation plays in a writer’s creative process, from choosing the language of a text before writing to deciding whether to adapt one’s culture, to translating a finished text. Beatriz will discuss the immigrant writer’s close relationship with constant, unending translation, and the process of translating her own work for publication.

Translation Café is a monthly event run by the Emily Anderson Centre for Translation Research and Practice. It functions as a reading group for colleagues interested in the many facets of the art of translation . The format of the group allows participants to share their interests, research or linguistic investigations with other colleagues in an informal manner.

Colleagues interested in leading future Translation Café events are invited to contact Ira at Irina.ruppo@universityofgalway.ie.
